Pada projek ujian praktek kali ini, kami membuat sebuah drama dengan tema kebenaran dengan judul “Searching for Truth in a World of Misinformation. Namun sebelumnya, kami menggunakan tema yang lain dengan cerita yang lain pula. Drama ini menceritakan tentang tiga orang selebriti yang sedang naik daun, namun di tengah-tengah kenaikan mereka, mereka dikait-kaitkan dengan berbagai skandal yang merupakan hoax. Namun, terdapat seorang jurnalis yang berhasil membuktikan hoax-hoax tersebut sehingga kehidupan mereka kembali seperti awal lagi. Dari drama ini, terdapat pesan-pesan moral dari berbagai bidang, yaitu
Pesan keagamaan
Dalam drama ini, saya memainkan peran sebagai reporter yang baik yang mana berperan dalam melakukan interview terhadap jurnalis yang sedang viral tersebut. Dari sini saya belajar bahwa apabila ingin meng-share suatu berita, carilah sumber yang terpercaya, bukti-bukti yang kuat, dan tidak asal menyebarkan berita sehingga menimbulkan kerugian terhadap orang lain. Sama seperti reporter baik dalam cerita ini, Ia meliput bagaimana Cass Dawson (Jurnalis) dapat menerbitkan artikel yang membantah hoax-hoax yang telah tersebar untuk menegakkan keadilan meskipun terdapat resiko yang harus ditanggung.
Saya juga belajar bahwa kita tidak boleh menyebar kebencian kepada siapapun, meskipun kepada orang yang kita benci, karena dengan menyebar kebencian maka akan menimbulkan lingkungan yang kurang nyaman dan menyebabkan kerugian kepada orang lain. Salah satu tokoh yang menyebar kebencian di drama ini adalah reporter jahat yang meliput hoax-hoax yang tersebar di internet untuk mempermalukan 3 selebriti tadi. Akibatnya, kebencian terhadap selebriti-selebriti tadi menjadi tersebar luas yang membuat lingkungan di sekitar selebriti maupun reporter jahat tersebut menjadi kurang nyaman. Seperti pada ayat Alkitab pada Amsal 10:12 yang berbunyi “Kebencian menimbulkan pertengkaran, tetapi kasih menutupi segala pelanggaran. ” dimana pada ayat ini mengajak kita untuk tidak menyebarkan kebencian.
Pesan Sejarah
Dari sisi sejarah, karena kami mengambil tokoh Douwes Dekker sebagai patokan kami dalam membuat jalan cerita ini, saya belajar bahwa sangat perlu untuk menegakkan keadilan dan selalu menyebarkan kebenaran meskipun terkadang kebenaran yang ada menyimpang dengan keadaan masyarakat. Douwes Dekker selalu menegakkan keadilan dimanapun kapanpun, seperti menyindir Belanda karena kekejamannya terhadap Bangsa Indonesia dengan menerbitkan buku “Max Havelaar” yang mana sangat berpengaruh terhadap kehidupan Bangsa Indonesia. Bagaimana sangat berpengaruh? Karena adanya buku ini, kehidupan di Bangsa Indonesia membaik dimana Belanda mulai menjalankan politik etis yaitu dengan membangun saluran irigasi, jalan raya, memberikan pendidikan kepada rakyat, dll. Sama halnya dengan Cass Dawson pada drama ini dimana Ia membela ketiga selebriti itu dan menerbitkan artikel yang menjelaskan tentang hoax-hoax yang menjadi basis kebencian ketiga selebriti tersebut. Meskipun terkadang menegakkan keadilan dan membela kebenaran itu sulit, namun kita perlu berusaha yang terbaik untuk selalu membela kebenaran dan menegakkan keadilan. Seperti Douwes Dekker, yang mana Ia sampai kehilangan pekerjaannya akibat kritikannya terhadap Belanda. Namun meskipun Ia kehilangan pekerjaannya, Ia tetap memperjuangkan kehidupan Bangsa Indonesia karena ketidakadilan yang Ia lihat sendiri.
Pesan PKN
Dengan berkembangnya teknologi di era saat ini, untuk mencari segala sesuatu sangatlah mudah, salah satunya adalah mencari berita. Dalam sekejap, apa yang dilakukan di berbagai tempat dapat kita lihat melalui sosial media maupun internet. Namun, dengan perkembangan teknologi ini pula membuat hoax semakin mudah tersebar dan banyak orang semakin mudah percaya karena kurangnya pendidikan ataupun asal menyebarkan berita tanpa memeriksa kebenarannya terlebih dahulu.
Hoax ini sangatlah berbahaya karena dapat mempengaruhi pemikiran orang dan juga dapat menjadi sarana untuk menyebar kebencian. Oleh karena itu perlunya melakukan verifikasi, perbandingan, dll terhadap berita-berita yang ada sebelum menyebarkannya kepada orang lain. Seperti perkataan William Walters (reporter baik) bahwa menyebar hoax sama seperti menyebar narkoba yang mana sangatlah berbahaya. Maka dari itu saya belajar untuk tidak asal menyebar berita tanpa melakukan verifikasi terlebih dahulu untuk mencegah penyebaran kebencian, pemikiran-pemikiran jelek, dll.

In our practical examination now, we are making a drama with a topic called “The Truth” and title “Searching for Truth in a World of Misinformation”. Before we decided to use this topic and title, we had used another topic and another title. This drama is telling us about three celebrities who were on the rise, but all of a sudden, they are tied by scandals which are hoaxes. However, there is a journalist who are able to proof that the hoaxes aren’t true. Because of that, the three celebrities are back in their life. In this drama, I’m able to find some moral stories in different categories,
From Religion side
In this drama, I’m playing a good reporter who was interviewing the journalist who are viral because of the article that he published. From this drama, I learn that when you are about to share a news, find a trusted source and evidence first, then share the news to avoid spreading hoaxes that could destroy other people’s life. I’m taking the moral story from the role that I play who cover the story about the journalist. Not like other reporter, the good reporter wanted to cover about the journalist who are able to proof that the hoaxes about the three celebrities aren’t true, even though there might be a risk that we should take.
I also learn that we shouldn’t spread out hatred to anyone, even the people that we hate/don’t like, because by spreading hatred, it will cause a less pleasant society and could bring disadvantages to other people. From this drama, one of the people that spread hatred is the evil reporter who cover the story about the three celebrities. As a result, the hatred toward those three celebrities are spread out and making the society around the celebrities or even the reporter less pleasant. We also reminded from the bible, Proverb 10:12, “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” which asking us to not spread hatred toward people.
From History side
Our drama are based on one people, which is Douwes Dekker. From him, I learn that it is necessary to uphold justice and always spread the truth toward people even though some truth aren’t acceptable in the society. Douwes Dekker always uphold justice and spread out truth, one of them is by criticizing how The Dutch treat Indonesian people and their cruelty. He even publish a book called “Max Havelaar” which bring so much impact on Indonesian society. How can it be so impactful? Because in this book, Douwes Dekker telling the truth about what The Dutch did to Indonesian society which make other country sympathized on Indonesian society which make The Dutch apply an ethics political. Cass Dawson (Journalist) also do the same thing. She cover the story of 3 celebrities to defend them and get justice from them by publishing an article which proof that the news about the 3 celebrities are all hoaxes. Even though sometimes by upholding the justice means we have to sacrifice something, but we need to try our best to bring justice toward the society, like Douwes Dekker who even lost his job because his contradiction toward The Dutch.
From Civic side
With the development of technology in this era, looking for anything is really easy, for example finding news. By an instance, things that are happening around the world can be seen through the internet and social medias. But, the development of technology also has its disadvantage, which is hoaxes are easier to spread out and people these days tend to believe hoaxes than the real news. There are also some people who are lack of education spread news without checking it first whether it’s true or not.
Hoaxes are really dangerous these days. It could affect how we are thinking and can be a tool for people who want to spread hatred. Because of it, verification and checking are really important before spreading the news. As William Walters (good reporter) said that spreading hoaxes is like distributing drugs which create a bad impact toward the society. Therefore, I learn to not spread news without checking and verifying the truth first to avoid spreading hoaxes, hatred, bad thoughts, etc.
